Our Management Team
- Tan Xu Teng (Founder): Xu Teng is also the founder of TAG International Tennis Academy, widely acknowledged to be the leading tennis academy in Singapore. He is also the owner of Sanwa X Tennis Academy.
Xu Teng pioneered Singapore’s first indoor tennis facility, Winchester Tennis Arena, that remains a pillar of the Singapore tennis scene. He also manages 2 premium tennis courts at TAG @ One North and a pickleball court at PickleChoo Arena. His work and contribution to the Singapore tennis fraternity in the development of high-performance juniors in the region was recognised when the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) invited him as a keynote speaker to share his work at the prestigious WTA Coaches Conference held during the WTA Finals in 2017.
Xu Teng is a well respected industry veteran in the entertainment and restaurant scene. His multi-award winning Wave House Sentosa celebrated its tenth year anniversary in 2019. Following Wave House Sentosa’s success, he is moving the wildly successful concept from Sentosa back to the main island of Singapore as Surf Cove by Wave House at Downtown East. Wave House Sentosa has won many industry awards such as Singapore Tourism Board’s Singapore Tourism Award, IS-Magazine’s (now SG Magazine) Best Activity and Best Beach Bar in Singapore Awards, and numerous Best of Singapore and TripAdvisor Awards.
- Wataru Ochi (Co-founder/Head Coach of Sanwa X): Coach Wataru Ochi stands as a luminary figure in the world of tennis, distinguished by both his remarkable playing career and his transformative role as a coach.
Coach Ochi was part of the coaching team for Sugiyama Ai, where she reached the French Open doubles final in 2007. His expertise and guidance played a crucial role in helping her achieve milestone. This achievement showed his ability to elevate his players to compete at the highest levels. In 2011, Coach Ochi guided his player, Soeda Go to break into the top 100 rankings. Coach Ochi’s coaching journey with Soeda Go also included participating in the French Open main tournament from 2011 to 2013. This experience at one of the Grand Slam events reflects Coach Ochi’s impact on his players’ careers at the highest level of competition, consistently pushing them to perform on the grandest stages.
In 2012, Coach Ochi extended his coaching prowess to the London Olympics, where he supported his players from the family box seat. The Olympics represent the pinnacle of international sports, and Coach Ochi’s presence underscored his players’ achievements on a global stage, providing them with unwavering support and strategic guidance. In 2004, Coach Wataru Ochi founded, and is the head coach of SANWA TENNIS ACADEMY in Singapore, establishing a premier platform for training and nurturing aspiring tennis talents. The academy’s success is reflected in the achievements of its alumni in national and international competitions, demonstrating Coach Ochi’s commitment to developing future generations of tennis champions.
- Yuichi Sugita (Head Coach): Head Coach Yuichi Sugita is a celebrated figure. He was a professional player. Yuichi captured an ATP Tour title. He also made numerous Grand Slam main draw appearances. This unparalleled on-court experience now directly informs his coaching. Furthermore, his recent transition from professional play is key. It ensures our coaching methodologies are current. They are rooted in elite-level strategies. These insights come directly from the sport’s highest echelons. As a dedicated tennis coach, Yuichi truly understands the modern game. He prepares our athletes with the competitive edge they need to succeed.
